In Russia, 13,634 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on October 11, Sunday, breaking single-day record for three days in a row. Russia’s daily caseload has doubled over the past month. 149 deaths were confirmed on Sunday, bringing total fatalities to 22,579.
4,501 cases were identified in Moscow alone and Moscow city government is said to be weighing on the closure of night clubs and pubs to contain the outbreak.
While the Russian government is aggressively promoting its new vaccine (Sputnik-V), it is estimated that the general availability of the vaccine will be in late November or December and the Health Ministry have not even disclosed how many teachers and front-line healthcare workers have so far volunteered to receive the vaccine.
